Puerto Banús on the map

Load Google Maps to explore this area.

For this directory, Puerto Banús means the compact marina and immediate resort core: the harbour and Muelle Ribera, Avenida Julio Iglesias, Plaza Antonio Banderas, the El Corte Inglés and Marina Banús retail zone, Levante beach and the Playas del Duque beachfront sector. It follows the existing Puerto Banús catalogue location and point rather than the much broader portal label sometimes applied to inland Nueva Andalucía.

La Alzambra, Centro Plaza, Rodeo Alto and the golf-valley neighbourhoods remain in the separate Nueva Andalucía or Aloha and Las Brisas profiles. Río Verde and the eastward seafront belong to The Golden Mile, while Cortijo Blanco and San Pedro de Alcántara are treated separately to the west. Facilities just outside the strict core may be mentioned for practical context, but are labelled as nearby rather than presented as being inside Puerto Banús.

The marina opened in 1970 and remains the area's defining public image. Its own current site advertises more than 900 berths and more than 100 brands. Behind that visitor-facing frontage is a residential market dominated by apartments: upper-floor marina homes, compact central apartments, penthouses and larger gated beachside developments around Playas del Duque. Daily life can be genuinely car-light within the core, but nightlife, deliveries, seasonal crowds, parking pressure and service activity make exact building position decisive.

Everyday life

Schools, shopping and local amenities

Schools and education

  • There is no conventional school campus inside the compact marina and beach core. Families use public and private provision in adjoining Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro, Nagüeles and Marbella, so the school run should be tested from the exact car park rather than judged from the Puerto Banús name.
  • Aloha College Marbella — in El Ángel, Nueva Andalucía, outside this profile. The school publishes education from ages 3 to 18, with an English-based pathway followed by IGCSE and a choice of IB Diploma or A-Levels. Admissions and school transport must be confirmed directly.
  • Laude San Pedro International College — a British and Spanish-system option west of the profile in San Pedro. Confirm current stages, admissions, fees and transport with the school.
  • Public schools — CEIP José Banús and other Nueva Andalucía or San Pedro options may be relevant, but allocation is address-specific under the annual Andalusian admissions process; proximity does not guarantee a place.
  • Buyer note: Puerto Banús is convenient for several international schools by car but is not a school-centred neighbourhood. Peak A-7, school and market traffic can materially change a short journey.

Shopping, restaurants and markets

  • Marina boutiques — the official Puerto Banús site currently advertises more than 100 brands around the harbour, with a strong concentration of international luxury fashion, jewellery and accessories. Individual tenants and opening hours change.
  • El Corte Inglés Marbella — full department-store shopping at Calle Ramón Areces, including food, home, fashion, beauty and customer services. The current official page lists Monday–Saturday opening from 10:00 to 22:30, subject to special-day calendars.
  • Marina Banús shopping centre — central mall with retail, food, children's leisure and direct access to a guarded 24-hour car park with more than 300 spaces and EV charging. The centre publishes retail opening from 10:00 to 22:00.
  • Everyday shopping — supermarkets, pharmacies, banks and personal services exist in and around the central retail blocks, but the marina frontage itself is weighted towards discretionary and visitor spending. Larger routine choice expands immediately into Nueva Andalucía and San Pedro.
  • Puerto Banús weekly market — the municipal tourism listing places the Saturday market on Avenida Pilar Calvo from 09:00 to 14:00. The market and Marbella Arena sit on the inland edge and can add traffic and parking pressure.
  • Dining and nightlife — the harbour, Avenida Julio Iglesias, Playas del Duque and nearby beach clubs offer a very large choice, from daytime cafés and chiringuitos to late-night restaurants and clubs. Operators, reservation rules, music licences and seasonal opening change frequently; buyers should visit the exact building late at night and during summer weekends.

Healthcare

  • Centro de Salud La Campana / Nueva Andalucía — the relevant public primary-care reference for many addresses in the wider district, but assignment depends on the registered home address. The SAS listing gives weekday opening from 08:00 to 15:00 and Hospital Costa del Sol as the referral hospital.
  • Expanded Nueva Andalucía health centre — the SAS reported in March 2026 that the enlarged centre operates with 19 consultations covering family medicine, nursing, paediatrics, samples and related primary-care functions for the wider district. Confirm the correct centre and current appointment route for the exact address.
  • HC Marbella International Hospital — private general hospital on Calle Ventura del Mar, immediately west of the core near Rodeo Bajo. Its official location page publishes a 24-hour contact; insurance cover and the appropriate emergency pathway should be checked directly.
  • Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella — private hospital in Marbella Centre with 24-hour adult, paediatric and obstetric-gynaecological emergency care.
  • Hospital Universitario Costa del Sol — the public specialist and referral hospital east of Marbella, reached along the A-7; traffic affects response and journey time.
  • Pharmacies, dental practices and private clinics are available around Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía. Verify opening hours, on-call pharmacy arrangements, accessibility and insurer acceptance.

Connections and distances

  • Walking — the marina, Levante beach, Playas del Duque, central retail and many restaurants are genuinely walkable on mostly level routes. Distance alone does not capture summer heat, evening crowds, service access or gaps in the west/east coastal path.
  • Urban buses — Marbella's network links Puerto Banús with Marbella Centre and San Pedro de Alcántara. The municipality advises checking current routes and timetables; stop side, safe crossing and distance from the building matter.
  • Marbella Centre — commonly about 10–20 minutes by car outside peak traffic. The seasonal Fly Blue passenger ferry offers a roughly 30-minute sea connection from March to November, with the current 2026 page showing hourly daytime departures; sailing dates and times must be reconfirmed.
  • San Pedro de Alcántara — commonly about 5–15 minutes by car depending on traffic and the exact exit.
  • Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport — approximately 60 km by road and commonly about 45–60 minutes outside heavy traffic. Aena's direct coach serves Marbella bus station, requiring a local connection or taxi to Puerto Banús.
  • Gibraltar Airport — approximately 65–70 km and commonly about 55–75 minutes plus border, parking and peak-time delay.
  • There is no railway station in Marbella. Rail journeys require a road transfer, commonly to Fuengirola or Málaga.
  • Driving and parking — access is from the A-7/N-340 and local distributor roads; summer, event and market traffic can be severe. Marina Banús has a 24-hour car park and the municipal tourism directory lists multiple private parking facilities, but a secure private space remains a major residential advantage. Confirm dimensions, deeded ownership, visitor policy, EV charging permission and flood exposure.

Beaches, marina and culture

  • Puerto Banús marina — the defining attraction, with more than 900 berths advertised by the operator, yacht services, shopping, restaurants and public quayside promenades. Access to moorings and operational areas is controlled separately from the public retail frontage.
  • Puerto Banús–Levante beach — the official municipal beach east of the marina. The tourism listing confirms seasonal assisted bathing by advance booking; sea and service conditions vary.
  • Nueva Andalucía / El Duque beach and Playas del Duque — the principal beach environment west of the marina, with promenade sections, chiringuitos and beach-club activity. Public beach access must be distinguished from private beds, pools and hospitality areas.
  • Marbella Arena — the converted bullring on the inland edge is a multi-use concert and event venue. The municipal 2026 listing describes capacity above 6,000; schedules, road closures and sound impact are event-dependent.
  • Villa Romana de Río Verde — free-entry Roman archaeological site just east of the strict core in the Golden Mile profile. The current municipal listing gives Friday–Sunday and holiday visits from 10:30 to 13:30; reconfirm before visiting.
  • Museo Ralli — free-entry Latin American and European contemporary-art museum east of Puerto Banús at Coral Beach. Its official page publishes Tuesday–Friday 10:00–17:00 and Saturday 10:00–15:00, with seasonal closure dates.
  • Beach clubs and nightlife — major parts of the local identity, especially around Playas del Duque and the marina. Bed reservations, minimum spend, age rules, dress codes, opening seasons and music programmes are commercial and time-sensitive.
  • Buyer note: view a property in daytime, after midnight and during a major summer or arena event. A central position that is convenient for leisure can also carry pedestrian, taxi, music and delivery noise.

Sport and leisure

  • Publicly bookable gyms and fitness — Puerto Banús has two verified commercial options inside the core and several useful clubs immediately outside it. Only facilities where an ordinary external customer can purchase a membership, pass, class or court are named.
  • Banús Sport Club — inside the Playas del Duque sector at Edificio Sevilla 1, Avenida Playas del Duque. Its official membership page sells a €25 day pass, €45 weekend pass, €75 seven-day pass and €150 ten-entry pass. It lists 2,000 m² of training and relaxation space, group fitness, sauna and two hours of included Mathilda parking; current hours are 07:00–21:00 weekdays and 09:00–15:00 weekends and holidays.
  • Platinum Fitness — a conventional commercial gym in Puerto Banús with 2,000 m² and more than 200 machines. Its official site publishes memberships at €99 monthly, €237 quarterly and €800 annually, with opening Monday–Thursday 08:00–22:00, Friday 08:00–20:00 and weekends/holidays 10:00–15:00. No casual day-pass claim is made here because the current first-party page reviewed does not publish one.
  • Fighters Marbella — immediately inland in La Alzambra, outside the strict core and part of the wider Nueva Andalucía setting. The official price page sells a €10 gym drop-in, €29 one-week gym pass, €39 two-week pass and €49 gym-only monthly membership, plus class passes. This is a useful nearby option but should not be represented as a marina-core facility.
  • Real Club Padel Marbella — west/inland at Calle Río Amazonas in Rodeo Alto, outside the strict Puerto Banús core. Its current official site sells a single-entry gym pass for €25, rising to €30 in the published April–September season, and an €80 monthly membership. Facilities include indoor and extensive outdoor gym space, group classes, HYROX, combat-sport areas and recovery facilities.
  • Padel — Real Club Padel publishes six outdoor courts, bookable by non-members from €36 per court-hour, plus coaching and open mix-ins. Club de Pádel Los Granados lies closer to Playas del Duque and is listed by Marbella tourism, but it is not given a current price claim because no sufficiently current first-party tariff was verified.
  • Tennis — Club Internacional de Tenis Marbella, about five minutes by car outside the core, expressly states that it is open to the public without membership and offers tennis and padel court rental, lessons and organised matches. Current prices and court availability must be confirmed.
  • Swimming — Levante and Nueva Andalucía beaches provide direct open-water swimming when sea state, flags and lifeguard guidance allow. The official Levante listing provides pre-booked assisted bathing in season. No public lap-training pool inside the strict core was verified. Hotel, beach-club and residential pools must not be assumed accessible; the nearest clearly documented municipal indoor pool is Antonio Serrano Lima in Marbella Centre under municipal registration and payment rules. Hot/cold plunge pools at Real Club Padel are recovery facilities, not swimming pools.
  • Watersports — Water Sports Banus operates from Levante beach and offers publicly bookable paddleboard, canoe, wakeboard, waterski, parasailing, jet-ski and other activities. Its current site publishes Andalusian active-tourism registration AT/MA/00404 and online booking; weather, minimum ages, licence rules and operating season apply.
  • Walking, running and cycling — the flat promenade and beach paths support walking and running. Cycling comfort and permitted use vary with surface, crowding and path width; the marina quay is primarily a pedestrian visitor environment.
  • Golf — no golf course lies inside Puerto Banús. Los Naranjos, Aloha and Las Brisas are in inland Nueva Andalucía. Los Naranjos provides the clearest current visitor evidence: its official 2026 tariff and online booking page publish seasonal 9-hole, 18-hole and twilight green fees. Other clubs' guest and visitor access must be checked directly.
  • Access rule — resident-only urbanisation gyms, communal pools, hotel-guest-only facilities, school facilities, invitation-only clubs and patient-only rehabilitation centres are excluded. A facility is named only where an ordinary external customer can pay for normal access, and nearby facilities outside the core are labelled transparently.

Points to check

  • Nightlife, restaurants, taxis, deliveries and events can create substantial late noise
  • Severe summer, weekend, market and event parking pressure
  • A secure private parking space has unusually high practical value
  • Portal searches often stretch Puerto Banús deep into Nueva Andalucía, distorting comparable evidence
  • Marina-front apartments may sit above or beside commercial premises
  • Beachfront buildings face salt, humidity, wind and façade-maintenance exposure
  • Older central buildings vary in lift access, sound insulation, parking and refurbishment quality
  • Communal pools and gyms are resident facilities unless rules state otherwise
  • Short-term letting requires current Andalusian registration, municipal compliance, a unique rental number and express community approval where applicable
  • Community fees, concierge, security, pool, garden and resort-style services can be high
  • The area is convenient but not school-centred
  • Peak-season character differs sharply from winter and should be tested before purchase
  • These notes do not replace independent legal advice.
