Benahavís area guide
Living and buying property in Los Arqueros and Los Almendros
Two adjoining hillside property-search locations in southern Benahavís: the larger, golf-led Los Arqueros resort and the quieter elevated residential pocket of Los Almendros. The combined profile offers apartments, penthouses, townhouses and villas, strong sea, mountain and golf outlooks, an 18-hole Seve Ballesteros course and unusually practical public-pay sport inside Los Arqueros: a gym with day passes plus bookable tennis, padel and pickleball. The trade-off is a hilly, car-dependent setting with no normal high street, ordinary school, public clinic or verified public lap pool inside the two locations. Exact community, access route, slope, view protection, golf exposure and legal status matter more than the shared area label.

Los Arqueros and Los Almendros on the map
This editorial profile combines exactly two activated Resales locations: Los Arqueros and Los Almendros. They remain two separate property-search values in the linked listings. It does not add Puerto del Almendro as a Resales filter, even though Idealista calls its statistical district Los Arqueros-Puerto del Almendro. Nor does it absorb La Quinta, Monte Halcones, La Heredia or Benahavís Pueblo.
Los Arqueros is the larger and more amenity-led part, built around Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club and a network of managed apartment, townhouse and villa communities. Los Almendros is a smaller elevated residential enclave nearby, generally quieter and more villa-led, with no equivalent clubhouse centre of its own. The two are combined because buyers often compare them through the same Ronda-road and San Pedro service corridor, not because their boundaries or community rules are interchangeable.
The landscape is sloping and development-specific. Some homes obtain broad Mediterranean, Gibraltar, African-coast, golf or mountain views; others face neighbouring buildings, internal roads, retaining structures or active fairways. A named area, current view or golf outlook does not establish a protected view, club membership, shared-facility right or tourist-rental permission. Buyers should inspect the exact approach, gradient and noise at weekday commute, school-run and evening times.
Everyday life
Schools, shopping and local amenities
Schools and education
- There is no ordinary public or international school inside Los Arqueros or Los Almendros. CEIP Daidín in Benahavís Pueblo is the municipality's public-primary reference, while official IES Guadaiza transition material includes CEIP Daidín among its linked schools. Public allocation is address- and year-specific: confirm the precise property through the Junta de Andalucía, the schools and the municipality rather than inferring it from the Benahavís postal address.
- For international education, Aloha College Marbella offers education for ages 3–18 with IGCSE, IB Diploma and A-Level pathways. Depending on the exact home and traffic, it is a practical orientation of roughly 8–13 km and about 15–25 minutes. Atalaya International College offers preschool through secondary and baccalaureate, including IB and Dual Diploma routes; allow approximately 10–16 km and 15–30 minutes as a broad road-planning band. These distances are not admission or bus guarantees.
- Ask each school about current places, language support, fees and live bus routes. A published historical stop or a line visible from a home does not prove service for the current academic year. Test the school journey at the intended weekday time and check whether a bus can enter the exact gated community or requires collection on a public road.
Shopping, restaurants and markets
- Los Arqueros has clubhouse dining, sports facilities, a pro shop and an ATM, but neither Los Arqueros nor Los Almendros has a conventional high street with a full supermarket, public pharmacy, bank branch and ordinary household services. La View and the Bowling & Sports Bar are leisure destinations, not substitutes for daily errands; confirm current opening hours and outside-customer access directly.
- Monte Halcones commercial centre is a useful nearby top-up node with Supercor Express, pharmacy and restaurants, commonly about 4–8 km and 8–15 minutes depending on the home and route. Larger weekly shopping, banks, trades and professional services are available in San Pedro de Alcántara, Guadalmina and Nueva Andalucía, broadly around 7–14 km and 12–25 minutes. Benahavís Pueblo is another dining and municipal-service option, but may not be the fastest routine route from every property.
- The exact development matters for deliveries and removals. Confirm gate registration, courier access, visitor parking, turning space and any restrictions on contractors; the map distance can understate time on steep internal roads.
Healthcare
- There is no public health centre inside Los Arqueros or Los Almendros. Consultorio Benahavís is the municipality's official primary-care reference and lists Hospital Universitario Costa del Sol as its hospital area. San Pedro and Guadalmina clinics may be physically closer for some homes, but proximity does not establish public assignment; confirm the registered address through the Servicio Andaluz de Salud.
- Hospital Universitario Costa del Sol provides 24-hour public emergency care and Quirónsalud Marbella publishes a 24-hour private emergency service. A broad road-planning orientation is roughly 15–30 minutes for local San Pedro/Guadalmina private services and about 25–40 minutes for the Marbella hospitals in normal conditions. Exact gate, traffic and emergency routing can materially change this.
- Verify pharmacy hours, public allocation, insurer authorisation, paediatric and maternity cover, out-of-hours arrangements, ambulance access and how the community opens barriers for emergency vehicles. Never rely only on a marketing travel time.
Connections and distances
- Both locations are car-based. Their hillside roads connect to the A-397/Ronda-road corridor and then towards San Pedro, Nueva Andalucía, the A-7 and AP-7. There is no rail station and no dependable door-to-door public transport for the dispersed communities. Gradients, bends, gates, golf traffic, school runs and incidents near the coast make journey times variable.
- From the profile reference point, use broad planning bands of roughly 12–20 minutes to San Pedro, 15–25 minutes to Puerto Banús, 20–35 minutes to central Marbella and 20–30 minutes to Benahavís Pueblo in ordinary conditions. Málaga Airport is commonly about 65–75 km and 50–70 minutes by road; Gibraltar Airport is commonly about 65–75 km and 55–80 minutes before exceptional A-7 or border delays. These are not guaranteed transfer times.
- Test the exact home's route rather than the area pin: security entry, guest and taxi pickup, school-bus meeting point, night lighting, steep garage ramp, road width, turning radius, visitor parking and EV charging. Los Almendros and the upper Los Arqueros phases can produce different internal journeys even when listings use a shared broad location.
Beaches, marina and culture
- Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club is the principal leisure anchor. In addition to visitor golf, it publishes publicly purchasable fitness passes and bookable tennis, padel and pickleball. The club website also lists La View restaurant, a bowling and sports bar, billiards, pro shop and ATM. Opening hours, event access and reservations should be confirmed; a club facility is not automatically included in a nearby property's deed or community fee.
- Benahavís Pueblo provides restaurants, municipal sports and access to official nature routes by car. San Pedro, Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía add beaches, marina life, cinemas, shopping and a much broader year-round dining choice. There is no sea beach inside either area; the practical coast is around San Pedro/Guadalmina, generally a car journey.
- Los Almendros is residential rather than resort-serviced. Its appeal is lower-density hillside living and outlook rather than an internal leisure centre. Buyers wanting to use Los Arqueros facilities should confirm the external-customer route and price instead of assuming that proximity or an estate name creates member privileges.
Sport and leisure
- Access rule for this profile: only facilities where an ordinary external customer can buy a pass, membership, court, class or tee time are presented as public-pay options. Residential community gyms, pools and courts are excluded unless that community independently sells access to outsiders. Distances and times are orientation bands from the profile reference point and must be checked from the exact home.
- Gym and fitness open to ordinary customers: Los Arqueros Fitness Center is inside the country club and publishes €25 for a day pass, €45 for a week, €80 for one month, €230 for three months, €445 for six months and €780 for one year. Its published spaces include functional and free-weight training, TRX and core work, a cardio room overlooking the course, Pilates/Pump/HIT group activity, a spinning room with 30 Life Fitness bikes and a 200 m² outdoor functional/free-weight terrace. The club also publishes 2026 fitness add-ons within golf memberships, but the standalone passes are the clearest normal-customer route. Allow about 1–5 km / 3–10 minutes within Los Arqueros and commonly 4–8 km / 8–15 minutes from Los Almendros, depending on the exact property. Confirm staffed hours, classes and current tariff before buying.
- Swimming: no ordinary-customer lap pool has been verified inside Los Arqueros or Los Almendros. Community pools are private and are deliberately excluded; the Los Arqueros gym page does not advertise a pool. Le Max El Lago Club at Real de La Quinta publishes memberships and day passes plus a 25-metre heated indoor pool, hydrotherapy, jacuzzi, hammam and sauna, broadly around 8–14 km / 15–25 minutes depending on route. Benahavís Pueblo's official map identifies a municipal pool, but current public timetable, season, lane availability and entry terms must be checked before relying on it.
- Tennis, padel and pickleball: Los Arqueros publishes ordinary external booking via Playtomic. Tennis costs €20 per court per hour; padel costs €20 per court per hour on artificial grass; four pickleball courts cost €20 per court per hour. Published hours are 08:00–19:00 every day with free parking. Availability, lighting, equipment and coaching must be confirmed at booking. These are genuine pay-access options, unlike private community courts.
- Outdoor sport: roads and internal paths support local walking, running and cycling, but the terrain is steep and a visible golf-side path is not automatically public. Benahavís tourism publishes routes including the Guadalmina irrigation-channel route and Sendero de las Libélulas, reached by car from these communities. Check heat, shade, water, road traffic, land access, wildfire restriction and river or flash-flood conditions on the day.
- Golf: Los Arqueros is an 18-hole, par-71 course opened in 1991 and designed by Seve Ballesteros, described by the club as the first Costa del Sol course designed by him. Visitors can book online. Published 2026 18-hole green fees are €80 in low season, €90 in mid season and €110 in high season, with up to 20% online-booking discount advertised. Confirm the live tee-time price, handicap, dress code, maintenance, buggy and rental-club terms. A golf-front property does not include playing rights unless the legal documents expressly provide them.
